A note on AI and our artwork

What is ours

• The concept of prehistoric creatures stuck in very modern day jobs.
• The characters, their personalities and their world.
• The stories, the writing and the humour.
• The creative direction: deciding what to make, what each picture should show, and which results are good enough to use.

What AI does

The illustrations and artwork you see on this site, in our books and on our products are generated with AI image tools, guided by our own descriptions and sketches of the characters and scenes. We then choose, refine and combine the results. We use AI because it lets a very small publisher bring these ideas to life.

Why we're telling you

We think you should know how something was made, particularly if you're buying it for a child or as a gift. Some people prefer art that was drawn by hand, and that's a fair preference. We'd rather you choose with the full picture than be misled.

In particular, we do not describe our artwork as hand-drawn, and we won't present AI-generated images as the work of a human illustrator.

Questions

If you have questions about how we work, we're happy to explain. Our approach may change as the tools and the conversation around them develop, and we'll keep this page up to date.
